KS2 Sports Day

June 30, 2009 · 11 Comments

A very hot and sunny afternoon made for challenging conditions for our youngsters in their sports day and plenty of water and ice lollies were needed in between events.

With the support of many of our parents, the children enjoyed javelin, wellie throwing, target practice, circuits, sack races and they finished with the excitement of the relay.

Congratulations to the reds who took this year’s trophy and well done to everyone for taking part and supporting one another.

Our skippers in Y2 and Y6 put on sensational performances during the recent celebration of skipping event, which took place here at CYB. With superb control, wonderful co-ordination, strength and speed, our children dazzled the audience with some terrific skipping and marvellous tricks, all in time to the beat of the music.

It was a show of excellent teamwork and professionalism.

Well done to everyone who took part and to all the staff who coached and supported the children.

Parish walk achievement for Cronk y Berry staff

June 21, 2009 · 4 Comments

Mrs Cullen and Mrs Loubser both enjoyed taking a long walk this weekend at the 2009 Clerical Medical Parish Walk.

Congratulations to both Mrs Loubser who walked the 32.5 miles to Peel in a superb time of 7 hours and 59 minutes and to Mrs Cullen who  completed the entire 85 mile course in 22 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds. This is the second year Mrs Cullen has walked the whole route.

Perhaps, more staff may feel tempted to have a go at this next year?!

Welcome to the CYB TT races

June 4, 2009 · 6 Comments

Our Y6 maths group have been learning how to calculate speed. Yesterday they looked at TT riders and calculated their speed.  Today, they ran an 80m race and worked out their speed. One runner recorded 26kmph!

This afternoon, Year 6 were official TT time keepers for the Reception TT races!  They recorded one rider with a top speed of 25kmph (or 15 mph!).

They really enjoyed their afternoon at the races!

Y6 give Y2 a hand with their ICT skills

June 3, 2009 · 9 Comments

Children from Year 6 have been working with children from Year 2 on a one to one project making a website of their favourite TV show. The children have been doing this work in Literacy and they have been researching on the internet and have written an information page. They have used this information to produce a website with the support from the Year 6 children and have had lots of fun learning new skills.

Many thanks to Y6 children and staff for their support with this project!
