Our value this month is Relationships and we are thinking about how important it is to work well as a team and treat each other with respect.

"So, what do you want to do when we've finished our drinks?"

"We get on well together"

"We enjoy dancing together!"

Eco Week by Chevonne Year 1
On Monday we started to make our Eco pecos. My Eco Peco was green and beautiful. On Tuesday we finished our Eco Peco. We covered a box then we painted our arms and legs then we coloured our faces in then we put it together and then we put socks on. On Wednesday we made bird feeders. My bird feeder was colourful. In the afternoon we walked to the Millennium Oakwood. It was a very long way. We got a rest and a drink.

On Monday we made Eco Pecos and my Eco Peco was good and green. On Tuesday we finished our Eco pecos. It was hard. On Wednesday we made our bird feeders. They were colourful. On Thursday we went to the Millennium Oakwood. It was fun and tiring. On Friday we made smoothies and we did it with Mrs Cowin.

Cockroaches, Millipedes, terrantulas, snakes and snails were just some of the creatures our children in Nursery encountered during their trip to the Curraghs Wildlife Park today. See their photos below and don’t miss the snakes coiling around Mrs Gawley and Mrs Evans!

Children in Y5 and Y6 created their own fashion garments, bags, jewellery and accessories from all sorts of waste materials including bin bags, carrier bags, straws, cardboard, sellotape, sequins, string; in fact everything they could lay their hands on!
The results; some really cool and tasteful fashion pieces, expertly modelled as shown.

This wooden sculpture of an acorn was hand carved by a skilled craft worker
Children in Y1 and Y2 walked from school to the Millennium Oakwood and carried out sketching. It was interesting to see the growth of the trees which were planted 9 years ago by all the Primary School children of the Island.

We must find out what these interesting brown bobbles on the trees are called

Time to relax after a long walk with some sketching

Sketching trees is fun
Well done everyone for walking the distance so well and not complaining about the long climb back up Johnny Watterson’s Lane!

Y6 children gave Miss Towse a big surprise today when they presented her with their completed school-made wedding dress, fit for a queen and indeed fit for Miss Towse for her forthcoming marriage to Tom this Saturday. Cliona is modelling this beautiful dress, made out of a variety of junk material as part of ECO week, including a long roll of bubble wrap as the train and next to her is Kate wearing a more traditional version. Miss Towse was invited into the sports hall, unaware of this and the school choir performed their song to her in front of the rest of KS2.

We wish Miss Towse and Tom all the best in their new life together.
